About Safe Home Authority
Real Experience, Real Advice, Real Safety
“In more than 25 years of responding to emergencies, the thing that stayed with me the most wasn’t the big disasters — it was watching people freeze during small, manageable ones. A kitchen fire that became a house fire. A cut that became a serious blood loss or infection situation. A carbon monoxide alarm that nobody knew how to respond to. Over and over again, I saw that a little knowledge and the right equipment would have changed everything. That’s why I built this site.”
Who I AM
I’m a firefighter/Paramedic with more than 25 years of service. Over a quarter century, I’ve responded to thousands of emergency calls, structure fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents and everything in between. I’ve walked into burning homes, treated trauma patients and worked alongside some of the most skilled emergency professionals in the country.
I’m nearing the end of my career in the fire service, a career I’m deeply proud of. But as retirement approaches, I found myself thinking about what comes next. Not in terms of what I wanted to do for myself, but what I still had left to give.
The answer was this site.
Why I Built Safe Home Authority
After 25 years of emergency response, patterns become impossible to ignore. And the pattern I saw most consistently — the that kept me up at night was this:
Most home emergencies don’t have to become disasters. The differnce between a small fire and total loss, between a minor injury and a life threatening situation, is almost always the same thing: knowing what to do in the first 60 seconds.
I’ve responded to house fires that started as small kitchen flames, fires that a properly used extinguisher would have stopped completely. I’ve treated injuries that became serious because well meaning people didn’t know basic first aid. I’ve seen families stand helpless in emergencies because they had never once talked through a plan.
None of that had to happen.
Safe Home Authority exists because I believe that with the right information, the right training,
and the right equipment, everyday people can handle many emergencies safely — protecting
their families, their homes, and their property before we even arrive.
That’s not a criticism of anyone. Nobody teaches this stuff. Schools don’t cover it. Most people
go their entire lives without ever learning how to use a fire extinguisher, treat a serious burn, or
create a home escape plan. I’m here to change that.
What You’ll Find on This Site
Everything on Safe Home Authority is written from firsthand experience — not from textbooks,
not from other websites, and not from guesswork. When I recommend a piece of equipment, it’s
because I’ve seen what works and what fails under real pressure. When I describe an
emergency procedure, it’s the same procedure I’ve used in the field.
Fire Safety
From choosing the right fire extinguisher to creating a home escape plan your whole family can
execute in the dark — I cover everything a homeowner needs to know to prevent fires and
survive them.
First Aid at Home
As a licensed paramedic, I bring clinical-grade knowledge to practical home first aid. Burns,
cuts, choking, cardiac emergencies — I’ll teach you what to do in the minutes before
professional help arrives, because those minutes matter more than most people realize.
Emergency preparedness
A well-prepared home is a safer home. I’ll walk you through building emergency kits, creating
family communication plans, and making sure your household is ready for whatever comes —
power outages, natural disasters, or medical emergencies.
My Promise to You
Everything on this site is written with one goal: giving you information you can actually use when
it matters. I don’t write filler content to hit a word count. I don’t recommend products I wouldn’t
trust with my own family’s safety. And I don’t sugarcoat the reality of emergencies — because
understanding the real stakes is what motivates people to actually prepare.
- Every product recommendation comes from real-world experience with what works
under pressure - Every procedure I describe is based on current best practices used by fire and EMS
professionals - Every article is written in plain language — no jargon, no unnecessary complexity
- I read and personally respond to every question in the comments — fire safety questions
are my specialty
I spent 25 years running toward emergencies so other people didn’t have to face them
alone. This site is the next chapter of that same mission — just from a different angle.
A Note About This Chapter
I won’t be in the fire service forever. After more than 25 years, retirement is on the horizon —
and honestly, I’m at peace with that. What I’m not at peace with is the idea of walking away from
something I care deeply about.
Safe Home Authority is how I stay in the fight. It’s where 25 years of hard-won knowledge goes
to keep doing what it was always meant to do: keep people safer.
If even one family avoids a tragedy because of something they read here, then this site has
done its job. That’s the only metric that matters to me.
